Physical activity has numerous benefits for children and young people’s physical health, as well as their mental wellbeing (increasing self-esteem and emotional wellbeing and lowering anxiety and depression), and children who are physically active are happier, more resilient and more trusting of their peers. Ensuring that pupils have access to sufficient daily activity can also have wider benefits for pupils and schools, improving behaviour as well as enhancing academic achievement.                                                                      DFE About the PE and Sport Premium

Tudor Grange Primary Academy Perdiswell is committed to ensuring that children have access to at least 30 minutes of sport and physical activity per day. Our investment in equipment for use during breaktimes, coupled with climbing walls, new playground markings and a Key Stage 2 Trim Trail, offer a wide range of opportunities for children to enjoy an active, outdoor break.

PE sessions for each year group are for 2 hours, blocked in their timetables on a selected day and children attend school in their PE kit. This ensures a swift start and maximum time spent understanding and developing their skills in a range of sports and PE activities.

We regularly welcome specialists, who host workshops and introduce children to local clubs. A recent tennis workshop resulted in children joining the club and parental feedback thanking us for finding their child a hobby they really enjoy. There is a buzz of excitement around the opening of the new local International Hockey pitch and we look forward to using this facility, very soon.
