This term, our pupils embarked on an artistic adventure, melding storytelling with creativity through our art unit, ‘Storytelling through drawing and making’. We delved into the enchanting world of polar bears as we beautifully crafted our very own clay sculptures inspired by the endearing creatures in the book The Last Bear—our dazzling summer term text!

The excitement in our classroom was palpable as the children eagerly sculpted their furry friends, bringing to life their imaginations and artistic skills. Guided by the whimsical creations of artist Rosie Hurley, who captivated us with her sculptures inspired by Roald Dahl’s Esio Trot, our young artists explored various methods to shape, paint, and adorn their polar bears. The creativity flowed freely, laughter filled the air, and we witnessed the magic that happens when storytelling meets art!

Our children not only developed their crafting abilities but also learned valuable lessons about teamwork, perseverance, and the importance of conservation, inspired by the polar bears they so lovingly sculpted.
