Exploring and Learning in Year 1

What an exciting few weeks we’ve had in Year 1! The children have been busy learning, exploring, and having lots of fun as we continue to settle into the new school year.

We spent a wonderful morning in our outdoor learning area, where the children enjoyed den building, experimenting in the mud kitchen, making music with outdoor instruments, and testing their climbing skills. It was fantastic to see everyone working together, using their imagination, and embracing hands-on learning in nature.

We were also lucky to have a special visit from Mrs Parkin, who shared a Godly Play Bible story about The Creation. The children explored the wonders of the natural world by touching and examining natural objects — the conkers were definitely a big hit! We also had great fun smelling different herbs like rosemary and basil, which the children decided smelled just like pizza!

In class, we’ve been continuing to work hard with our phonics, reading, and maths. Next, we’re looking forward to starting our new poetry unit all about Autumn, which links beautifully with our Seasons topic in science.

It’s been a busy, creative, and joyful start to the term — and we can’t wait for all the learning adventures still to come! 🍂📚✨
